In the Change of Time

– 27. November 2022 Topic exhibition in La Galleria Dorothea van der Koelen Venezia Venice, Italy

There is going to be a new fantastic show in La Galleria Venezia, too. According to good tradition, the Venetian branch of Gallery Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen hosts a themend exhibition accompanying the Biennale.

The show presents works of 8 international artists from 6 different countries. That’s 8 different views to a world that is in a period of fundamental changes. In today’s world – stumbling from the Covid pandemic into the Ukraine war – we need to put our eyes to the visual arts and their inventions. To get through all the crises, we are not allowed to lose hope. And we need artistic creativity to find solutions where the politic is out of words. This exhibition is a statement that not the dialogue of weapons, but only the dialogue of culture can help us to build bridges into the future.

Entitled In the Change of Time and starring Lore Bert, Daniel Buren, Hans Jörg Glattfelder, Mohammed Kazem, Joseph Kosuth, Fabrizio Plessi, Turi Simeti and Günther Uecker, the new exhibition sports a high-profile cast. It shows a good mix of new works, like Fabrizio Plessi’s golden video sculpture and Joseph Kosuth’s clock-work, but also old classics like Daniel Buren’s Triangles pour deux fenêtres from 2004.

The carefully curated artworks showcased complement very well with La Galleria’s light and white premises to create a seemingly hovering, dream-like experience. Thus, it harmonizes very well with this year’s biennale theme, The Milk of Dreams.
